THE HIDDEN REWARD

Developing a New, Winning Product Isn't 
the Only Reward Awaiting the Successful Inventor.

The product development game is filled with risks and potential rewards, but one of the best rewards is often unmentioned.

Product development can help you unlock more of you! Many of us have grown up in an overly-organized, conformist society. We go from childhood where parents and schools tell us what to do and not do, to adult society where we take jobs at companies that put us in neat little boxes and act as parental substitutes.

Developing your own product is an act of pure creativity. Any creative act brings a sense of aliveness and power. It puts us in touch with the same creative force that makes the trees grow and the planets revolve around the sun. It's a exhilarating, mind-expanding, educational experience.

Interestingly enough, the product development process manages to bring up subtle doubts you may have about yourself. Such thoughts might include:

* I'M NOT SMART ENOUGH.

* GREAT THINGS ALWAYS HAPPEN TO THE OTHER GUY--NOT ME.

* THIS IS RISKY. I SHOULD PLAY IT SAFE AD SAVE MY MONEY.

* PEOPLE WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ME AND STEAL MY IDEA.

* PEOPLE WILL THINK I'M CRAZY.

* IF I FAIL, PEOPLE WILL THINK I'M A FOOL.

* MY SUCCESS WILL BRING ABOUT JEALOUSY AND I WILL LOSE MY FRIENDS.

These are just a few of the little demons that may be roaming around in your head. These thoughts not only restrict your ability to develop a product, they restrict creativity and aliveness in your life in general. By bravely walking through the product development process, you will be slaying a lot of "self-doubt dragons" along the way. You will see that you do have the ability to change your world and the world of others, to make things happen, to turn an abstract idea into a product that can be found in thousands of homes and affect (hopefully in a positive way) the lives of those people.

You will become a respected person. A person of power. A person who has made his/her mark on the world. Take the plunge! Develop your idea! You'll grow in more ways than you can imagine.
