Are you struggling to organize and accomplish your goals in your small business? You're not alone. This is one of the biggest challenges facing entrepreneurs. With that in mind, here are a few tips to help you run your business more efficiently:
1. Mail--Strive to pick up a piece of mail just once. Make a decision to act on it, file it, or toss it.
2. Time--Make time for important things, not just the urgent ones. Simple things like organizing your desk can help keep the stress out of your day.
3. Chart Accomplishments--Keep your monthly and yearly goal list handy. Charting your accomplishments greatly enhances your feeling of being in control of your time and your business.
4. List--Make a list at the beginning of each day of the things to do that day. It will get you focused while you're having your cup of coffee.
5. Projects--Mark on your monthly calendar the starting date as well as the deadline for each project.
6. Open Projects--Keep a running list of open projects. As each task is completed, boldly cross it off the list.
7. Chunks--Slice up big projects into manageable chunks. This will keep you from feeling overwhelmed.
8. Switch--If you run out of steam on one project, switch to another. Some people do their best by doing something easy first, before they tackle a larger project.
9. Avoid Overload--Learn to say "No" to new projects when you're already overloaded with work.
10. Trim--Trim off low-pay activities from your schedule. Go to the bank and post office during off-peak hours to save time.
