GET A COMPUTER THE EASY WAY

Need a Computer But Don't Think You Can Afford it? Maybe It's Time to Drop the Excuses and Make a Move.

By Jeanie Swisher

Are you looking for a computer? The first step is to understand the need for getting a computer. You have to "want" one to begin the process of bringing the opportunity to you.

Secondly, keep your expectations realistic. Not everyone has one or two thousand dollars to buy a brand new computer. As the market is flooding with newer and faster computers, there will be more and more used systems for sale. Keep your eyes open.

Find a used computer isn't all that hard to do. Check the bulletin board in your local super market and also check the items for sale in the weekly newspapers in your area. One of the best ways to find one is to let your family, friends, and neighbors know that you are in the market. Buying from someone you know also has the advantage of having a contact person if you need help with the programs.

Getting the money to purchase a computer can also be fairly simple, maybe easier than you think. Everyone can afford to set aside a dollar a week. My first computer in 1995 was just $200 with the printer included. In addition to saving a dollar a week, start putting your loose pocket change into a cup at the end of each day. Get into the habit of spending only paper money. You'll be surprised how quickly you'll have saved $100 toward purchasing a computer.

Beware of "excuse-itis." The dooming words, "I Can't" stop the flow of good things happening for you. It may be a fact that you can't buy a computer today. But by understanding the need for a computer for your business and taking some positive steps to set aside a few dollars each week, you'll have a computer in the not-too-distant future. And it all begins with "want."
