DIRECT SALES ON THE INTERNET

The Trial and Error Period for Internet Sales is Finally Over. Now We Know Exactly What Works.

By Kevin Nunley

For a long time, we didn't really know the best way to sell things on the Internet. Everyone was poking ahead through trial and error. But this week Internet biz guru Paul Meyers told me, "We've found what works." No question about it--the leading business model on the Internet is direct sales.

Direct sales on the Internet uses a simple formula for success. Get a web site. Find a product or service that lots of people want and a specific group wants very badly. In the first frame of your opening web site page, tell the reader what your business can do for them. Give them very attractive, very convincing benefits. Then lead them directly to your order page. Give them a few extra pages of helpful tips. Put a push for your product on each page, with a link to your order area.

When people buy, keep track of their contact info. Satisfied customers will want to buy additional related products and services from you. This "back end" business can be substantial.

Remember--before the year 2000 is over, half of all Americans will be using the Internet . That is a LOT of people spending billions of dollars. With all those people on line, everyone should have a web site, even if it's a very small, simple one.
