NETWORK FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS When You Can't Provide a Product or Service for a Customer, You Can Still Earn a Lot of Respect. By Kevin Nunley There are many times when you simply can't provide the product or service a customer needs. You earn a lot of trust (and future sales) when you tell the customer, "I can't do it for you. Contact this person to get it."
Sure, you don't get the sale, but you get the customer's respect as someone who knows their way around the business. You can bet the customer will think of you the next time they have a question.
Maria Marsala recommends networking to find other businesses who can provide additional products and services to your customers. She calls it the "buddy system."
What services don't you do that your clientele may enjoy? Can you find a business in your area that offers that service? Can you buddy with this business and help your customers?
Maria says to speak to the business owner about putting your cards in her business. You can then do the same for the other business.
