Winning the Public's Trust is an Important Step for Your Business. By Kevin Nunley
We're currently seeing a new wave of "don't trust Internet businesses in the national and local media.
There are also many folks out there who don't trust small or home-based businesses (one local newscaster even implied that only big firms are "real" businesses.
Of course, none of this is true. But it does mean those of us with small businesses must give extra effort to gaining the public's trust. One of the best ways to do this is to stress your guarantee. Watch your sales jump when you prominently display your guarantee on your website or in your sales literature.
If you are worried about people taking advantage, be assured the vast majority of customers are honest.
One company offers $50 if your order arrives late. Their ads show the manager holding up a check with the caption, "We've only written two checks this year." A great way to build trust.
Another company saw their 60-day-guarantee was working well. So they extended it to a full-year guarantee, something none of their competitors were doing.
When you want to build trust and a trustworthy reputation, consider stressing your guarantee. I think you'll be pleased with the results.
