"I WANNA BE A SUCCESS"

These Words Are Spoken Every Day by Aspiring Entrepreneurs. But Quite Often, These Same People Have no Clue How to Proceed. Here Are a Few Tips.

By Roy McDaniel

I read something the other day that I had buried deep in my files. I feel it's something I need to share with everyone. What does it take to become a success? Why do some people make it to the top and others don't? While the answers are subjective, there are some common characteristics and principles that are common to successful people.

What are they? And more importantly, are you a master of each of these characteristics? Let's take a look at these seven attributes.

1. Self-Belief--Successful people have a mental poster for success and believe they are capable of achieving it. This belief must extend to their product and company. A strong belief system seems obvious, but few people possess it. Too many look outside (for the money they can make) rather than inside (for the money they can earn).

2. Take Advantage of Opportunity--First, successful people must recognize it. Often it shows up disguised in the form of adversity. Secondly, successful people act on it. Opportunity is elusive. It exists all over the place, but few can see it. Some people fear it because it involves change. Most don't believe they are capable of achievement.

3. Have the Right Associates--Hang around the right people...other successful people. Network where their best customers and prospects go. Join the right associations. Make the right friends. Stay far away from poison people--those who can't seem to get anywhere.

4. Expose Yourself to New Things--If you aren't learning every day, your competition is. New information is essential to success, unless you're like some people I know who "already know everything" (lucky you).

5. Take Responsibility--We all blame others to a degree. Blame is tied to success in reverse proportion. The smaller your degree of blame, the bigger degree of success you'll achieve. Petty blame is just a waste of time.

6. Be Willing to Take Risk--This is the most crucial factor. "No risk, no reward" is the biggest understatement in the world. It should be stated-- "No risk, no nothing." If you want to succeed, you'd better be willing to risk whatever it takes to get there.

7. Have a Positive Attitude--Surprisingly, this is not a common characteristic. By the time a person makes it to the top, they have developed irreversible cynicism. A positive attitude makes achieving success much easier...and more fun.

The person who will emerge victorious most of the time is the person who wants it the most. Victory doesn't always go to the one with the lowest price. The victory we call success goes to the best-prepared, self-believing, right-associated, self-taught, responsible person who sees opportunity and is willing to take a risk to seize it.

Is that you?
