HOW TO DODGE YOUR OWN TRAFFIC ACCIDENT

Avoid the Pitfalls and Bring the Internet Traffic Directly to Your Website.

By Justin Langlois

In my experience on the Internet, I have come across some major traffic disasters. I would like to point some of these out to you and show you how you can avoid them and drive targeted traffic to your site.

ACCIDENT #1--Do Not Rely Solely on Search Engines

Search engines are just one small part of driving traffic to your site on the Internet. I have spoken with tons of people who think driving quality traffic on the Internet is based upon how well they rank in the search engine.

You may do well momentarily, however, when the search engines change their formula, your site may take a nasty fall. The formula I'm talking about is known as an "algorithm." Algorithms are used in search engines as a means of determining how well your site ranks.

Avoid this traffic disaster and you'll be well on your way to driving traffic to your site.

ACCIDENT #2--Do Not Forget About Your Repeating Visitors

It has always been the focus of other people to drive new traffic to their website...myself included. You may be so concerned with achieving better results that you forget who actually helped you achieve success.

You probably start each day thinking about how you can drive new visitors to your website. You're looking to fill your site with daily visitors and throwing up a prayer in hopes they will return. Day after day it becomes an endless cycle.

While I admire this attitude, try and focus on bringing repeat visitors to your site. Here an example--let's say you sell golf equipment online and I visited your site two weeks ago. I purchased a pair of golf shoes. I received the shoes in the mail the following week and the shoes reminded me that I needed a golf glove. A few days later, I'm trying to find your site on the Internet. Uh oh...I can't remember where I bought the shoes and my wife threw out the box.

I guess I'll buy the golf glove from one of your competitors.

Remember, repeat visitors are great for your website. You're instilling a level of confidence with your customers and they're willing to revisit your site.

If you have a website that's got a lot of quality content, the people are going to come back over and over again. The quality content you're creating will also help your search engine rankings.

Learn how to help other people and you'll make money. Sell your own products or offer affiliate products. The key to your success will be repeat visitors.

ACCIDENT #3--You Can't Teach an Old Dog New Tricks

You constantly need to be learning about the latest tactics available on the Internet. Some of these methods will actually help you increase targeted traffic to your website. You're very serious about learning how to drive targeted traffic to your site, so congratulate yourself for learning something new and remember there will always be new and emerging techniques.

I was taught a lot about Internet marketing by some pretty old school fellows. There's a reason they don't exist online anymore.

You have to keep in mind that search engines and links aren't the only way to drive traffic to your website. You're reading this article and getting a free course online. If you are receiving my emails, you're on the forefront of this war. I recommend that you try something new and drive targeted traffic to your website.
