The Editor's Desk...with Mike Foley DEALING WITH FEAR Over the years, the Dream Merchant has prided itself on its ability to provide the latest in information and inspiration to inventors, small business owners and entrepreneurs. And, we're happy to say, we've seen many success stories along the way--subscribers who have gone on to create winning products and services, starting their own prosperous enterprises.
And yet, sad to say, there are also those who have struggled to succeed, grew overwhelmed by obstacles and eventually gave up. Sometimes the obstacles could have been avoided, sometimes not.
And so we often ask ourselves what could the entrepreneur have done to produce a different outcome? In some cases, there might be nothing--the situation may have been a simple case of bad luck. In looking at other cases, it's obvious that a shift in promotional approach or marketing could have made a difference.
And sometimes it's all on the inside. The problems are more internal, a struggle occurring within a particular individual. Such struggles can often be more difficult than the practical obstacles of the marketplace. And in many cases, those struggles can be traced back to a simple, yet powerful, emotion.
Fear.
Fear can overwhelm an inventor or entrepreneur, effectively sabotaging a product-development or business venture. So in this issue, we've decided to tackle that emotion head on, offering you several tips on dealing with fear and maintaining a positive focus. Check out our feature in this issue, where David Hurley discusses the fear of failure and offers you several tips for overcoming it.
We believe that David's tips are a good first step in overcoming the fears that may be interfering with your life and your dreams. So take them to heart and approach your dreams with more enthusiasm and passion.
Best of luck with your all your great ideas.
