A SINGLE VOICE

It often occurs to me how strong a single voice can be. Some of our most successful political movements, for example, are the result of strong individual voices, like Gandhi or Martin Luther King. An individual who is strong and focused can stir the hearts and minds of thousands and accomplish great things.

But it works in other ways, as well, right down to our individual lives. A single positive voice can encourage us and send us in the direction of creativity and achievement. Encouraging words spoken at the right time can have a tremendously worthwhile effect.

A single positive voice.

Unfortunately, a single voice can also work in a negative way. And that's really what I want to focus on here. For many of us, it's a single negative voice that has been most powerful in our lives. How often has someone criticized your ideas or joked about your dreams, robbing you of the excitement that comes with creative endeavor? Most of us have had at least one person who (for whatever reason) has seemed intent on criticism.

A single negative voice.

Think about this for a moment. We often lose determination or vision or perseverance simply by listening to a negative voice. One voice. One opinion. And in a world with billions of voices and billions of opinions, that's a truly lopsided state of affairs. So why not choose to listen to that single positive voice, the one that can be most helpful?

Remember this--you're a creative person, with creative ideas and you've come this far because of a single positive voice--your own inner strength that moves you toward a goal. You wouldn't be reading this magazine if you didn't somehow have that voice. So listen to it! Drop the negative voices from your life. Associate with those who share a positive approach to life and creativity. Invention is the result of a positive focus, one that regularly ignores the disparaging voices and remains firmly focused on success.

We at the Dream Merchant hope you'll encourage that positive voice inside you and allow your creativity to feed on that single positive voice.

The world needs your great ideas. May they grow and blossom.
