The Editor's Desk...

Approximately six weeks ago, Dream Merchant Publisher John Moreland arrived at the office, ready for a day's work. Unfortunately, that wasn't meant to happen. Instead John discovered a flooded office, several destroyed files, and an unexpected mess to clean up. Recent city work on the water lines had resulted in a backup, flooding several downstairs offices in our building. The clean-up effort would take more than a month, remodeling the office and salvaging files and equipment.

Was this the end of the line? Hardly. The website remains active and the magazine, while now behind schedule, is still publishing. The important point, however, is the attitude that prevailed during these past few weeks. Not one person on the Dream Merchant team was discouraged or depressed by the events. Led by the positive attitude of John Moreland, Dream Merchant staffers approached the situation with patience and hope, determined to rebuild the office and continue offering the best information and inspiration to America's inventors.

We've done just that.

What's all this have to do with you? Consider this--life in general and the invention process in particular will continually throw you curves. Will you respond with bitterness and despair or patience and hope? Will you give up or plow ahead with a positive attitude? The answers to these questions may very well determine your future. Remember that your obstacles are tests of your determination. Above all, they are opportunities for growth and renewal. Viewing them in that way might just make the difference on the path to success. The Dream Merchant won't give up on you. Keep believing in yourself.
