Ten years ago, John Moreland had an idea.
The California-based inventor and entrepreneur had seen it all in his business/product development career and wanted to share that knowledge with others, especially those in danger of being ripped off by the so-called "Invention Scam" companies. Moreland's idea was to publish a small newsletter, offering patent information, business/marketing tips and everyday inspiration to aspiring inventors and business people. The tiny, half-size Dream Merchant Newsletter went out to a small mailing list in May of 1990, starting a chain of events that would give birth to the Dream Merchant Magazine, America's leading publication for inventors.
I came on board as editor shortly after that premiere issue and have never regretted the move. Along the way, I've witnessed the growth of a fine publication and the birth of a successful interactive web site for inventors. I've also had the opportunity to meet and interview some of America's most dynamic individuals, while working with John Moreland, whose positive outlook and inspirational lifestyle should serve as a model for life in the 21st century.
Our message, after 10 years in the business, is the same as it has always been. Find the information, believe in yourself and, above all, be persistent. Never give up. We haven't and we have no regrets after 10 wonderful years.
As the Dream Merchant stands tall in its new Internet format, Moreland is proud of the publication and how it has grown from its humble beginnings. From the germ of an idea, something truly beautiful can grow and prosper. The Dream Merchant is proof of that. Your product/business can be that proof, as well.
