TIPS FOR EFFECTIVE SALES Want to Grow Your Business and Get More Sales? Follow These Essentials.
By Bonnie Drew
You might have a great idea, even a great product or service. But when it comes to selling, do you come up short? It doesn't have to be that way. Here are some of the keys to effective sales for young entrepreneurs.
1. Attitude--Successful salespeople today see themselves as partners with the customer. Your job is to find the customers who need help solving a problem, and show them how you can be of service. An attitude like this gives you confidence and purpose.2. Contact--The sales process starts with your first eye contact with the customer. So greet customers warmly, smile, shake hands, and look them in the eye.
3. Find the buyer's need--Ask information-gathering questions that allow customers to tell you what they need or want. Determine how your product can solve their problems.
4. Establish Value--Show your customer some ways you can help. This establishes your service as valuable.
5. Answer Objections--Respect your customer's intelligence. Answer questions with facts and evidence.
6. Ask for the Sale--Many sales are lost because the sales person never really asks for the sale. Ask for the sale with a question that can't be answered with Yes or No. Example: "If there are no more questions, when is a good time for me to meet with you to plan Susie's party?"
7. Stop Talking--After you ask for the sale, be quiet and let the customer answer. If you keep talking, the customer never has a chance to reply.
8. Get Their Signature--Carry an order form or a sign-up sheet with you when you go out to sell. It's easy to ask for the sale by saying, "If you'll just sign this order form, I'll deliver your cookies on Saturday." Signing the form closes the sale and gives you a written record to be sure you fill the order correctly.
