WHAT WILL YOU SAY WHEN YOU GO OUT TO SELL? Before You Go Out to Sell, You'll Need Time to Prepare.
By Bonnie Drew
Think you're ready to sell? Before getting started, you'll want to prepare a sales talk, then practice it in front of the mirror until you feel comfortable.
You probably won't say the exact words you practiced when you go out to sell. But if you forget what to do next, you can always fall back on your memorized speech. When preparing your sales presentation, be sure to focus on the following points:
1. Start With a Simple Introduction--Tell the person who you are, what you do, and the purpose of your business.2. Briefly Describe Your Product or Service--Explain what it is, how it works, colors, unique features, etc.
3. Talk About the Benefits of the Product or Service--People want to buy products that solve problems, improve life, make work easier, save time, make them beautiful, etc.
4. Use a Statement That Asks People to Buy Now--For example, you might say, "Would you prefer to order one or take advantage of our special price on three?"
5. Plan What to Do If They Say No--Think of possible objections a customer might have and how you can answer each. If they still say, "No," ask if they have a friend who needs the product.
6. Plan What to Do If They Say Yes--Get their signatures on order forms and deliver what you promised.
Anyone can improve as a salesperson with study and practice. Bookstores and libraries have huge sections of books about sales. It you enjoy sales, you'll enjoy studying the art of salesmanship.
