CONSIDER A CAR WASH BUSINESS This Traditional Business Can Earn You a Regular Stream of Extra Cash.
By Bonnie Drew
Washing cars to earn money is almost as traditional as having a lemonade stand. While it may not seem particularly exciting or new, it has withstood the test of time because it truly is a great way to earn money.
Here are some ways to improve the car-washing business today:
1. People today want their high-priced cars to be babied and pampered. Emphasize the fact that you hand-wash every car with mild soap and soft rags.2. Many business people use their cars to transport clients or business associates. Their cars must be immaculately groomed. Emphasize your careful attention to making the inside and outside of the car spotless. Offer waxing and detailing at additional prices.
3. People today have less time. If you live near an office building, school, or shopping center, market a "car wash express" to employees. Get a few friends to help you develop a precision plan for team washing a car in 15 minutes. Then set appointments and guarantee regular customers-- "Your car spotless in 15 minutes or the car wash is FREE." Be sure to add a qualifier at the bottom of your flyer stating that your guarantee does not apply to first-time customers. Offer a first-time special also.
Although customers today expect a better car wash, the good news is they expect to pay a higher price. Check prices on hand washing and detailing in your area. then see if you can gain the competitive advantage by giving just a little bit more service for a slightly lower price.
